Our environmentally friendly light bulbs offer savings by means of enhanced halogen technology, compact fluorescent technology and LED with CREE intensity. We offer dimmers and transformers to enhance performance to even further improve savings - both in environmental and financial terms! 

Legislation is demanding an end to the old fashioned incandescent bulb. There are many alternatives on the market, but many people have had bad experiences with compact fluorescent alternatives. We bring an array of products to provide energy saving alternatives. Compact fluorescents that actually provide the right output and a range of them in the old classic bulb shape. New technology halogens in the old favourite shape but with great energy saving attributes. State of the art fluorescent solutions for all applications and, finally, LED products with ultimate green credentials.

Radnor Light and Heat is also pleased to be able to offer a great range of light fittings from Fozz®, specially designed to be able to use a combination of all the new technologies.

We have carefully selected products from major manufacturers to give you confidence in the alternatives that we offer. We have provided you with the approximate old wattage rating to equate to the new lower ratings. The new technology light bulbs are about reducing harmful emissions when the power is generated. We have identified those CO² savings for you. Fortunately in making these CO² savings the power saving to the consumer is huge and we have shown those savings too. Here we have calculated the savings over the old standard bulbs over the lifetime of the new one. We have not included the cost of the new bulb nor the costs of all the old bulbs that would have been necessary to meet the lifetime of the new one.

Where possible we have included bulbs that can be dimmed, as we know how popular this feature is in creating mood lighting. To overcome the worry about the use of liquid mercury in compact fluorescent lamps we include products that are liquid mercury free and in many cases have silicone sleeves to contain glass in the case of breakage. Look for the details in the shop. Many of the Megaman® bulbs are Energy rated A.  ALL bulbs of Energy Class C and below will no longer be produced by 2016.

LED

The market is beginning to fill up with many LED offerings. Beware, don’t be disappointed. We offer LED solutions that are tried and tested using chips that perform to specification. This part of the market will be fast developing and we aim to be here to advise with future developments.

TIPS

Compact fluorescent give fantastic savings but consider the following:

  • Compact fluorescent types may take time to “run – up”. This is not always appropriate. Where you need instant light, like the old standard bulb, fit a halogen classic.
  • Where you need to operate a dimmer, check to see if a compact fluorescent option is available. Megaman® bulbs offer a Dimmerable or DorS dimming bulb for this option.

We have selected options that have comparable luminous flux to the old classic type. We have also selected options where possible that have a warm white colour temperature, like the old classic type. However if luminous flux and colour temperature are vital to you, select the halogen version.
